25/26 March at Parliament: The Public Service’s “diverse and inclusive” Rainbow Conference.

Information for participants

You will be told that everything that’s happening in government is great for rainbow people and has no negative effects.

But what is happening in the NZ public sector is very similar to what is happening in other jurisdictions. See for example An open letter to trustees and chief executives: you’re being taken for a ride or Losing sight of women's rights.

You will be told that using pronouns is just politeness. There will be no other impacts. It’s just acknowledging transgender people’s reality and showing yourself to be an ally.

But how many public servants will provide free and frank advice on matters related to sex and ‘gender’ when the Public Service Commission advises them to use pronouns? Where is freedom of thought for those who don’t believe that it is possible to change sex?

And when you demand to ‘queer’ pronouns the language to describe women’s experience begins to disappear too. Last year we saw the Green Party proposing to remove the word woman from the abortion legislation. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern introduced the programme to provide period products to girls without using the words girls or women. Women are now described as menstruators and pregnant people and birthing parents. Golriz Ghahraman, MP and a human rights lawyer, even qualified a tweet that “women’s rights are human rights”.

You will be told that banning conversion therapy for the LGBTQIA community is a great idea.

But the Ministry of Health advised the then Minister Julie Anne Genter against it in 2019. It is why the Justice Select Committee advised that care was needed to ensure that there is a difference between banning conversion therapy for gay and lesbian people - which is rare and could be dealt with as a crime - and preventing people, including children, from being properly counselled when they present with gender issues.

You will be told that transgender people must be celebrated for becoming who they truly are.

But hundreds of confused children are being medicated each year to stop puberty based on their gender confusion and dress or personality and preferences. The “inclusive” Rainbow community does not want you to know that people change their minds about gender transition when they come to realise they were seeking transition as a cure for emotional pain. They were sold a lie. They were not a different gender. Some of these people have had multiple surgeries, have lost fertility and sexual function and are now dependent on artificial hormones.

You will be told that the rainbow agenda is popular. And indeed it is supported by many corporations and overseas funders.

But a recent survey shows that three times as many people opposed rather than supported the introduction of the new Relationship and Sexuality Education guidelines which mandate the teaching of gender ideology in schools. The level of opposition was similar across voting intention, age range and other demographic factors.

You will be told about the important need for self-identification for trans people.

Yet it has already been extensively implemented in many parts of government without a legal basis. These initiatives and the related changes to data collection undermine women’s rights, the statistics to measure their progress, that identify what services women need and ensure that their legal rights to women specific roles, safety and dignity can be granted.

You will be told that Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sexual CharacteristicsSOGIESC / LGBTQI+ campaigns are civil rights issues.

Why then do Human Rights Commission staff advise working under cover to implement this agenda that was supported by the world’s biggest law firm and biggest publisher?

You will be told that Rainbow Tick and similar “diversity and inclusion” schemes are good for workplaces.

But you won’t be told about the way these organisations have used their scheme to bully institutions and undermine free speech. Nor whether there is a conflict of interest in organisations like the PSC, GCSB and the Health Quality and Safety Commission being signatories.

You will be told Transphobia is increasing.

But is that true? Read this by J.K. Rowling or this by Jill Abigail. Both were accused of transphobia. But how are they transphobic? Is it ‘transphobic’ to say that women have rights that should be protected?
