Community Planning in Aro Valley 1978

Next door to Herstory Press, across the broad driveway, lived Chris. She was a political artist who drew for Circle magazine and political posters. In 1978, we met in an empty flat behind her place on Friday nights for the 'club' and on weekends for community meetings to plan our 'Political is Personal' initiatives and address our 'Personal is Political' needs, such as consciousness-raising groups. When Chris moved to Durham Street, we again had community meetings to plan for our own needs, including fundraising for a Lesbian House, theatre, and Women's Dances at the Aro Street Community Hall.
