Anti-lesbian discrimination persists at Wellington Pride

Despite a live discrimination case against the organisers of Wellington Pride have been at it again this year. It seems that only the right sorts of lesbians are welcome at Wellington Pride events. Making the suggestion at the Rainbow Human Rights stall that there be ‘protection of the right for lesbians to meet in the safety of lesbian only groups’ was enough for the stall-holders to pressure the facilities manager to ask lesbians to leave. LAVA member Hilary Oxley and a friend went to Wellington Pride’s event at the Michael Fowler Centre 2 years after LAVA’s stall was pre-emptively cancelled. Here is what happened:
