Maiming them with kindness

We’re so used to politicians and journalists lying to us that many of us have become a tad cynical when it comes to promises and assertions. Yeah, right, we believe it when we see it. But what about teachers, therapists, doctors? Until very recently many adults relied on their good judgement - and young people did, too. But can they? Should we?

On their Youtube channel, Women’s Declaration International published the story of Swedish woman Emelie Köhler, who started “transitioning” when she was 19. She has detransitioned, but she has had her breasts removed - life-changing surgery that cannot be undone. Now she is an activist and an emphatic voice for other detransitioners. And she’s angry at the people whom she should have been able to trust.
